How to Find your Mac's Firmware Version

To check the version of your firmware:

(NOTE: These are only for models that have "New World ROM" boot systems. If your mac is older than 2 or 3 years, such as any pre-G3 mac, than you probably don't have a NWR system. As such, this procedure will not work)

  1. Open Apple System Profiler(using OS9 or OSX)
  2. Click on the System Profile tab, if you are not already there.
  3. Click on the disclosure triangle next to "Production Information"
  4. Your firmware version is next to the Boot ROM Version(See the red circle below)
