My Bio -Erin Hoxie

Instructor / Choreographer

A PASSION FOR MUSIC

Dancer, Instructor, Choreographer, and a passion for music has led Erin Hoxie to where she is today. Music has been a major factor in Erin's life since she was 7 years old. All through out her life, playing in every musical event through Jr high & Sr high school. Erin has a passion for music! She took private lessons from many well known musicians, and teachers. To her credit are numerious awards for district, state & regional music events. Her passion for music has lead her to help others through her dancing.

Erin Hoxie has been Country Western dancing for over 14 years and has been teaching line, partner and couples dancing for more then 6 years. What began as a part-time hobby has turned into a life style.  A Leola, Pa native, Erin now finds herself helping out as a country line dance instructor at the Low Places Country Night Club in Lancaster, PA, along with her regular classes. The fulltime instructor at Low Places is Mr Dave Whitehead. Erin is working on several new dances to Choreograph. In her dancing career, she has hosted several dance events, along with many, many country dance lessons throughout the South Central Pennsylvania region.

Erin has held dances to raise money for the American Cancer Society at The Conestoga Valley Community Center in Leola, with Dave Whitehead, another teacher by her side, as well as volunteer her time and talents to many local senior centers, such as The Elizabethtown Sr Center, giving back to the community wherever she can. To her credit Erins has also made several videos. With the help of Charles & Chris Magee from WLYH-TV UPN15, a live country dance commercial was shot at Low Places Country Dance Club on Aug 6th, 2003, promoting country dancing. Country dancing is her passion. Erin has in her memory lots of steps to thousands of dances. She has the canney ability to teach all these dances, with a style all her own. Many of her students say: "Erin is a very personable teacher". She also enjoys the challenge of teaching couples & partners. As soon as a new country hit comes out, Erin is already researching the dance, prepairing to teach it to her students. She always seems to find just the right steps for every beat of the music.Sometime in the future that dance will make it to the dance floor, for all to enjoy!  After many, many years of successful dancing and teaching, Erin has found great satisfaction in her ability to help everyone to country dance. Beginner up to Advanced students.

Erin's future doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. She has taught country dancing to EARS, Special Rehab students, as well as college students at the Harrisburg Area Community College, demonstrating what country dancing is all about. Erin and a local Lancaster DJ have also had the pleasure to teach at the Hershey Convention Center in Sept of 2004, along with her regular teaching schedule which includes lessons at The Conestoga Valley Community Center, The Lancaster Rec Center, The Greater Elizabethtown Area Rec Center, The Ephrata Rec Center, The Hershey Rec Center, Thr Rutherford House Community Center in Harrisburg, The Susq Senior Center in Wrightsville Pa and Homestead Village in Lancaster.  In 2005 Villanova University, gave Erin the invitation to teach, to their student body. She felt is was an honor to teach for such a large university. A great time was had by everyone! Erin also directed The 2005 Lancaster Senior Games, the line dance portion. Thanks to her wonderful group of judges, that day was a great success. Erin also got the opportunity, thanks to Melissa Anderson, to teach some students at the Maytown Learning Center, in Maytown Pa. The summer of 2005 was highlighted when Erin got to teach summer camp, girls club, called "Camp Anchor" for disabled kids.  Erin also traveled to New Providence, Pa, to meet Chris Sensenig, to help teach a youth commission group, the fundamentals of line dancing.  The Fall of 2005 was exciting when David Gelatt, from Dutch Wonderland asked Erin, to come and teach at the park, for there Fall Farm Festival. Also in 2005 the CV Sr High School hosted a dance marathon  to provide funds for Katrina Victims. Erin along with several other instructors was invited to teach for the event. Accomplishments for 2006:  The year started off with The Ephrata Cancer Center, hosting an event, including line dance instruction from Erin and an exhibition with a group of her students. Private group lessons were also held at The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata. The Girls Scouts of Smoktown Elementary School also enjoy private group lessons. Friday night barn dances were also held in E-town. Erin hosted & taught many dances at the 1st Annual Line Dancing For Fun Workshop was held at the Ephrata Rec Center. Erin also hosted the 2007 Lancaster Senior Games, Team Line Dancing Competition.  Accomplishments for 2007:  Erin got the opportunity to teach to a private group at the Ronks Fire Co in Pa. She also taught line dancing to a group of latin students, which included a translater, from & for the American Heart Assoc. of Lancaster. Susq. Valley  Harley Davidson invited Erin & a few of her students, to help out & promote there spring open house event. The bikers had lots of fun dancing.  Erin added another senior class to her teaching schedule at The Northeastern Senior Center in Mt Wolf, York Pa. The 2nd Annual Line Dancing For Fun Workshop is scheduled for the Fall of 07 at the Ephrata Rec Center. Erin also really enjoyed helping the Paoli Cancer Center hold there annual dance at the Desmond Convention Center in Melvern Pa. The 2007 "Go Gold" program  held in downtown Ephrata, which included Erin teaching line dancing , in front of the Ephrata National Bank, was a big hit this year.  Summer of 07 Erin was asked by the Glatfelter Insurance Group to teach a 2 hr class at their location, just off I-83 west of York Pa. What a fun class.  The new year is off to a hectic pace.  Keep on dancing!

Erin has danced, and performed in numerous competitions on the east coast. She has also been involved in judging and running the line dance portion of the "The Senior Games", which is a local  dance competition and clinic program for seniors sponsored by local commercial business in the Lancaster area, held at F & M College, every year. Although Erin's teaching schedule is a very hectic one, she still finds the time to dance and help others. Many local and international dance teachers also commend Erin for her achievements in the field of "dance". Erin hasn't lost touch with why she started teaching many years ago either. It's not unusual to find Erin dancing in front of crowds of people one day, then teaching students the latest dances at the club, "Low Places", the next. Her success, comes from her drive to dance. Erin's dancing is now a very important part of her living, and she enjoys sharing her love for dance with others. If your ever in the South Central Pennsylvania area, looking for good country dance lessons, check out Erin's classes and stop by to say hello!

What a job!

Most of my time is spent learning new line dances to teach. It takes hr's to be able to transform a dance into "teachable language" so everyone can benefit from it.  What I like best about it, is when a "dance" becomes popular & everyone is having fun dancing the dance!

Another fun part of my life is getting to ride my 2002 BMW R1150R motorcycle. I've been riding about 7 years now. That bike is my "everything". If you ride, you know  what I mean. A very special man, who is now no longer a part of my life, by his choice, taught me all the valuable road skills that I now have. He had over  500,000 miles  of riding under his belt plus. That man could ride! An Ex-racer, he was on top of his game every time. Despite everything, it's hard to give up my motorcycle in the fall and I rush to get it on the road again in the spring; lapses of sanity like this are common among motorcyclists. When you let a motorcycle into your life you're changed forever. The letters "MC" are stamped on your driver's license right next to your sex and height as if "motorcycle" was just another of your physical characteristics, or maybe a mental condition. I wouldn't  trade it for anything in the world!  The photo is me coming home this fall from a trip to Slatyfork West Virginia. On my way home I stopped for gas in Virginia. I did a double take, when I saw another rider with the same exact bike, sorta, as mine! Needless to say we had a lot to talk about.  You meet the nicest riders on the road.
